Here`s to the nights when the sand is your seat and the waves kiss you feet. Nights when you feel the light that`s shining from the stars above, covered in a antique mistery. Here`s for the memories that will always be alive inside you, played all over again. I have a story, too. A story about the way that beauty can hypnotize you.
My father brought me here several years ago with work. As a painter, Lanikai`s clear waters, wide beach and swaying coconut palms, were his biggest dreams. Back then,I was young and also, was the first I visitedHawaii. This “heavenly sea”, how is translated Lanikai, captured me.
Turquoise water was brushing up against the gold , fine sand beach. It was scratching under my feet. The gentle onshore winds offered me a cool relief from the hot Hawaiian days. It was almost night. The moon was on the sky, but I wanted to swim. The summer nigt was like a perfection of thought. I could see then lots of colorful fish amidst the coral reefs. It was like the rainbow got down and, magically, bathed everything in his dreamlike colors.
I bent on the powdered-sugar sand and closed my eyes. I could hear the waves flying from the precipitous water and fighting with the beach . It sounded victorious, yet breathless. Wreathed in tall coconut palms and koa trees, this place had a mysterious perfume. The scent reminded me of the milky white interior of the coconuts : sweet, delicious and unique.
In that moment, standing alone, I started to imagine my life inHawaii. It could be adventurous, yet calm, but also gorgeous and full of surprises : palm trees, ocean breeze, and salty air. I was capable of living there, near the ocean, in the middle of exotic plants, with little birds singing their magic rolls . . .
My dreams came true in Lanikai. Watching the sunset was always a good idea, but on this heavenly beach , it looked like a painter`s maisterpiece: selfish with the colors with a wondrous beauty .There, I opened my heart to allow myself to see the true beauty within . I never knew until than that I could love a place on Earth more than my home . A life lived in the place where your heart is, is a life lived.
And now, until 3 years on living on the island, I feel the same way: the reefs always amaze me, like the first time. The sand is as fine as then, the water still has its bluish-greenish shades, but the stars are shining with more power. Everything is better here. All thanks to the person who brought me here, who showed me that the paradise is a real place; who showed me that the beauty was born here , far away from tall, modern buldings, crowded streets and thousands of people .
